After his fifth fumble of the 2017 season, Isaiah McKenzie will be replaced by Jordan Taylor on punt returns starting with Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.
Isaiah McKenzie was drafted in the fifth round in order to give the Denver Broncos some “juice” on offense and to provide a spark on punt returns. Sadly, that “juice” has turned sour and the Broncos are going another route.
Vance Joseph announced on Wednesday that they are replacing that juice with a little “Sunshine.” Jordan Taylor will replace Isaiah McKenzie as the team’s punt returner. This will start with the Broncos Sunday afternoon tilt with the Cincinnati Bengals.
This comes as no surprise. Isaiah McKenzie has only had one solid punt return during the season. But fumbling has been a major issue. He has fumbled five times during the 2017 season. His most recent fumble jump-started a Patriots offense led by Tom Brady. After the fumble, New England drove down the short field and scored a touchdown.
The game would basically unravel from there. With special teams becoming under fire the last couple weeks, it was important to make a change. But the question is will Jordan Taylor bring new life to the returning game?
I have not seen a lot of him returning punts, but for a guy who showed some success in the passing game last year, why not see what he can do. As long as he does not fumble and can make some solid returns, I believe he will be okay.

Only time will tell if Jordan Taylor will be the answer for the Denver Broncos at returning punts. But with how this season has gone, it would not hurt to change things up. Especially if it will help the team win some games.
Hopefully Jordan Taylor is successful in the return game.
