After the bye week, the Denver Broncos Fanzone is back. I have brought back Kelly Kern to get her takes on the Broncos and Sunday’s game.
It feels as if it has been forever since the Denver Broncos last played a game. Well fear not Broncos Country, they are back. Coming off the bye week, the Broncos welcome the New York Giants.
The team is refreshed and ready to get the ball rolling with 12 straight weeks of football. It is going to be an interesting ride. I must say that I am impressed with this team.
Vance Joseph seems to have brought some great energy to the Denver Broncos team. And while the competition will be tough, this could be a team that can get a lot of momentum going if they can secure some signature wins against quality competition.
With a defense like the Denver Broncos, there is no doubt things could look great for this team in 2017.
Now the Broncos face off against their second NFC opponent of the season, the New York Giants. The team is struggling a lot, but there is no doubt this team will be giving Denver all they have. Vance Joseph better have his crew ready.
We continue with the Denver Broncos Fanzone by bringing back a familiar face. Kelly Kern is a close friend of mine whom I interviewed last year for the 2016 season opener against the Carolina Panthers. Even to this day, her knowledge of sports fascinates me and I continue to learn more from her with each conversation.
I sat down with Kelly to get her takes on the Denver Broncos thus far and the football game on Sunday.
The Denver Broncos are off to a 3-1 start. In the first four games, what has impressed you the most about this team? What is something that you want to see improved as they come off the bye?
The run defense has impressed me the most. I was worried because despite how good our defense has been and continues to be the run defense was a weak spot. However our #groundcontrol compliments our #noflyzone well. Now if #MajorVon could break loose a couple times a game.
I would really like to see the offense improve. We had such solid games the first two weeks. However the third and fourth week we struggled and seem to lose our swagger. We won’t win games if we can’t score points. I also don’t want another season of quarterback controversy.
How would you grade Trevor Siemian’s performance through the first four games? What has he done right and what does he need to improve on?
I’d give Trevor a solid B. We are converting on third downs and making positive plays. He’s made some great throws and isn’t only dinking and dumping the ball off. But Trevor needs to learn to not take unnecessary sacks, especially for big loses and THROW THE BALL AWAY. I know he’s not a very mobile quarterback but on this he needs to be smarter.
Who would you say is the biggest offseason acquisition for the Denver Broncos at this point in the season?
I’m going to go with [Domata]Peko and Leary as our big off-season
acquisitions. Peko is killing it. Leary, I think filled a much needed hole on the line. Trevor has had time, we can run the ball – that’s huge. Our line still needs some gelling and maybe a substitution but we have improved.
The Denver Broncos go up against the New York Giants on Sunday. What do you think it will take to get a win against them?
The New York Giants on Sunday is a scary game. On paper the Giants have nothing going for them. Eli is a great quarterback but his offensive line is so bad McAdoo could probably be investigated for attempted homicide. He has one receiver from his starting lineup. And players are just jumping ship. However good athletes are competitors and with no wins and now nothing else to lose the Broncos cannot afford to get complacent, lazy, or sloppy. We got to stay focused on the little things and stay the course.
Is there a specific player that you are looking forward to seeing play on Sunday and why?
No, while I’m going with every fiber of my being Trevor does well and continues to improve and put up wins I just love my team. Football Sunday’s are the best and I always want to see our D dominant, our receivers have fun, and our special teams play their game.
