The Denver Broncos and New York Giants are set to face off for the first time since 2013. Here is my preview on the game to be played on Sunday.

When the schedule came out, the Denver Broncos vs. New York Giants game was one that I was really looking forward to. Five weeks in the NFL can really change things.

In what most felt would be a battle between teams that would be contending for January football, that would be the case for one team as of now. The other is looking to just pick up the pieces and hopefully put on a solid game.

There is no sugarcoating it. The Denver Broncos are right there in the playoff race at this early junction of the season. The New York Giants could be competing for the first overall pick at this point.

Injuries, coaching staff, and front office have really made an impact on the 2017 New York Giants season. Eli Manning is perhaps the best playmaker for the Giants now. Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall (the wide receiver) suffered ankle injuries last week and are gone for the season.

And the Giants offensive line has looked horrible. The defense has not helped their case either. This is perhaps the one game this season where the Denver Broncos will be heavy favorites. In fact, at the time of this writing, they are 11.5 point favorites.

But the Denver Broncos can’t sleep on the Giants. Anything can happen on Sunday’s. So, until I see the result, I expect Vance Joseph to have this team ready to go.

Let us take a look into this matchup.

Key Matchups

Broncos run offense (3rd) vs. Giants Front Seven/Run Defense (29th)

Eli Manning vs. Broncos Secondary (11th in pass defense)

Giants Running Backs vs. Broncos Front Seven (1st in run defense)

What to Watch For

Do Not Take It Easy

Yes, the New York Giants are winless and are on their last limbs as far as we can see. But that should give the Denver Broncos no excuse to not compete like this is a divisional rival or the Patriots.

On paper, the Denver Broncos are the better team. They sure better play like it on Sunday. Denver is well rested and should perform well.

Big Games From Broncos Players

This could be the game where we see multiple Denver Broncos players have big games on both sides of the football. The Broncos will be looking to take advantage of weaknesses on both sides of the football and even on special teams.

Prepare for some big plays by the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Prediction

I do not like predicting blowouts, but I would not be surprised if this game turned out to be one. I also would not be surprised if this were a close game. You just never know.

However, with how this game looks on paper, the Denver Broncos have the advantage all around. I foresee 300 yards from Trevor Siemian, 100 yard rushing and receiving from the skill guys, and plenty of sacks and interceptions from the defense. We might even see a special teams return.

With that said, this is a game that could give the Denver Broncos much needed momentum before they go on their three game road trip.
