Denver Broncos Will Only Carry Two Quarterbacks in 2017
By Tylor Walden
With the quarterback decision made, Vance Joseph has stated that the Denver Broncos will only carry two quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster this season.
The Denver Broncos have spoken. Trevor Siemian will be the starting quarterback for the team in 2017. He won the starting job over Paxton Lynch. However, there will not be a battle for the backup position, which is obvious.
Vance Joseph noted in the press conference on Monday that the Denver Broncos will only carry two quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster in 2017. We knew that the winner of the starting job would start and the other would backup.
However, there will not be a third string quarterback on the team this season. It has been rare to see the Denver Broncos carry a third quarterback on the roster. In fact, the Denver Broncos have not carried three quarterbacks since Peyton Manning’s final season in 2015. Due to Manning’s injury was why three quarterbacks were carried.
This news means that we will not see Kyle Sloter or Chad Kelly on the final roster. It was given that Chad Kelly was more likely going to end up on injured reserve. Kyle Sloter is an interesting name to keep an eye on in this case. This likely means that Sloter will either get picked up by another team after he is cut or will pass waivers and land on the practice squad.

With so many needs at other positions, it makes sense that Denver would only carry two quarterbacks. They have two solid guys in Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. If there were any injuries, then the case for a third quarterback would be likely.
For now, it looks like the Denver Broncos are rolling with two quarterbacks in 2017. Let us get the 2017 Denver Broncos season started. Looking forward to a great year.
