With his performance on Thursday, followed by the news of Carlos Henderson’s injury, could Kalif Raymond end up on the Denver Broncos final 53 man roster?

Kalif Raymond was an undrafted free agent coming out of Holy Cross University in 2016. During training camp last season, he could not gain a role on the final 53-man roster and was cut. However, Raymond was placed on the practice squad.

In his second training camp with the Denver Broncos, Raymond is looking to make some noise and earn his place on the final roster. It is safe to say that his performance has looked solid.

With the injury to Carlos Henderson, there could be another spot for a wide receiver. It’ll depend on what the Broncos decide to do with Henderson. There were three plays from Kalif Raymond that stuck out to me that warrant a spot on the roster.

Of course, we know the two returns he had are going to be the first two. His two returns help set up the two touchdowns that tied and gave the Broncos the lead. But perhaps his biggest play was on that touchdown that gave Denver the lead.

If you look near the top of the screen, you will see that De’Angelo Henderson runs behind Kalif Raymond. The Holy Cross wide receiver throws a block on strong safety Chris Prosinski. That breaks Henderson free to the open field.

The speed of De’Angelo Henderson finishes off the touchdown. But make no mistake. Had Kalif Raymond not thrown that block, that run might not have been what it was. It is key to have a receiver block on running plays. Kalif Raymond showed us on that play he can open running lanes too.

Hopefully, we will get to see more of Kalif Raymond when the Broncos take on the 49ers on Saturday. But he is making his case this season.
