Bounce Back and Trends

Reason number 10 (and there are definitely more) why the Broncos will be this year’s Super Bowl champions is actually two-fold.

More from Predominantly Orange

The Broncos are coming off of a ‘down’ season in 2016, when they experienced a great deal of roster turnover with a coaching staff that had plenty of distractions and other things on their minds besides football.

The combination resulted in ugly football, and the Broncos sort of seemed to waste a year with this great defense. I foresee 2017 being a big time bounce back season, because the young talent on this team had an opportunity to learn on the job last year.

The Broncos also have had great success in the past few odd-numbered years.

2011: AFC West champions; one playoff win

2013: AFC West champions; AFC Champions

2015: AFC West Champions; AFC Champions; Super Bowl Champions

What will 2017 bring?

I’ve said this before, but if the Broncos could win nine games with the team they had last year and the coaching job that was done, I don’t know how they will win less than 11 games this season provided the offense makes even marginal improvements.

The defense is going to be great again. The coaching staff is motivated and seems to be a great fit for the player personnel. Now, it’s simply a matter of execution on the field and consistency.

If the Broncos find a way to get into the playoffs, they have the type of defense that no team wants to face. We’ve seen this team make a championship run in recent years with Brock Osweiler at quarterback for a significant piece of the regular season.

That may have been the exception and not the rule, but this is the type of championship defense that can carry a team, and with a more explosive and efficient offense, this Broncos team can and will be Super Bowl 52 champions.
