As with many college freshmen, Thomas got his initial playing time at Michigan as a special teams player. He wasted no time making an impact for them, blocking a punt his freshman year.

In all, Thomas competed in 47 games for the Wolverines, starting 21. He was an honorable mention all-conference performer in 2016, racking up 70 tackles and 10 interceptions.

Thomas wasn’t the most dynamic safety in this year’s class of players, but he showed he can make some plays. Like he did in college, he’s going to have to break into the NFL by making an impact on special teams. That’s where the Broncos could really use him now, with the void Will Parks is potentially leaving behind.
