Video Highlights: Denver Broncos Draft Isaiah McKenzie
Jon Faverau’s character in Rudy describes Denver Broncos fifth round draft pick Isaiah McKenzie best, but time will tell if he holds up as a returner…
“He’s so little!”
The Denver Broncos continue to drink more juice making additions to the special teams and offense. Isaiah McKenzie reminds me of a Taylor Gabriel; however, with the addition of Carlos Henderson, Gabriel may turn into a better Trindon Holliday. Holliday performed in the league best in 2012, but due to being liability fumbling the football, Holliday’s services were no longer deemed worth the risk.
McKenzie is two inches taller and is more durable than Holliday. Frankly, McKenzie is your starting kickoff and punt returner day one heading into training camp, if you ask me. McKenzie is an absolute blur that runs as quick as a hiccup. The Georgia Bulldog returner and wide receiver totaled six touchdowns in college (five punt returns and one kickoff).
Furthermore, the Broncos have now added three potential special teams players in Carlos Henderson, Brendan Langley and now Isaiah McKenzie. It is not out of the realm of possibility McKenzie sees packages for him in the offense. The Denver Broncos know all too well about speed in the AFC West.
Here’s a bit from Lance Zierlein’s scouting report:
"Slippery in tight quarters, but will elude and go rather than trying to get miss after miss. Has vertical speed to win over the top of nickel cornerbacks on deep routes. Offers gadget touch option for creative offensive minds."
Enjoy some of these highlights of the most dynamic returner in college football. No he is a potential Denver Broncos specialist.
