If Denver Broncos Trade Up, Why Reuben Foster Makes Sense

It has been reported that the Denver Broncos are looking to trade up in Thursday’s first round. If that is the case, I give a scenario on Reuben Foster.

When it comes to the NFL Draft, anything is in play. For the Denver Broncos, it appears that they could look to make a splash.

On Thursday afternoon, Adam Schefter reported that the Denver Broncos are right now the only team that could look to trade up in the draft.

This makes a lot of sense. With so many teams with needs about the same as Denver up front, John Elway wants to make sure he can get his guy.

In our Predominantly Orange mock draft, the Broncos traded with the Washington Redskins to draft Christian McCaffrey. That could be one name I would look for.

There are various speculations that getting an offensive tackle could be in the cards.

But here is my thought process, as I was thinking this driving home from work.

What if the Denver Broncos moved up to get Reuben Foster if he starts falling in the draft? I would like this move and it would make sense. If Foster moves out of the Top 10, I think the Broncos would start looking closely.

But why Reuben Foster? To answer that question, let us take a trip down memory lane. Back in October when I attended my first Broncos home game against the Falcons.

One thing I noticed in that game was how Matt Ryan was able to look to the middle, where the linebackers are, and throw it to the wide out, tight end, or running back running that route.

While the route was short, they were able to convert it into big gains. Having a linebacker to cover the short pass plays and maybe break it up could benefit the defense.

Seeing what Reuben Foster can do, he could be that guy. Especially with how he can hit the receiver.

The Denver Broncos are no strangers to trading up in the first round. They have done so for the last two drafts.

No knock on Todd Davis, but pairing up Foster with Brandon Marshall would be some tandem. And the Broncos have been missing that coverage linebacker since Danny Trevathan left.

Denver can go just about anywhere in the draft. But the reasons I stated above are reasons why Reuben Foster may not be a bad choice.
