Max Garcia, OG

The Broncos are really high on Max Garcia, as they were a year ago.  Garcia was firmly entrenched as the starter at left guard throughout the majority of camp and the preseason a year ago, until John Elway pulled the trigger on veteran Evan Mathis.  However, Garcia made it impossible to keep him off the field, and rotated in at both guard spots.  The Broncos have had him lined up at left guard, and seem intent on playing him there (although I thought his best work a year ago came at the right guard spot).

The Broncos feel they have a true long term answer on the inside of the line, and with far more comfort in the playbook and protection schemes, Garcia should be far better.  Garcia is big and extremely strong at the point of attack.  He had some lumps in pass protection a year ago (but who didn’t on that line), but should be far better this year.  Garcia moves very well and is a perfect fit in the zone-blocking scheme and should help open up some massive holes for the Broncos stable of running backs to gallop through this season.

If he can do that, he could be staring his first Pro Bowl nod right in the face.  Broncos Country is expecting big things from this revamped offensive line this year, and Garcia should be right in the middle of that–literally.
