The Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with their first round draft pick Paxton Lynch on a four year contract with a fifth year option. With the agreement, the Broncos will now have all the draft picks under contract.
It is been an ongoing theme that the first round pick for the Denver Broncos has taken some time to come up with the rookie deal. It happened with Shane Ray last year. So there was no doubt it would take some time with Paxton Lynch.
This is especially true when it comes to perhaps the franchise of the team. But nonetheless, it is done.
The Denver Broncos and Paxton Lynch have agreed to a deal. It is projected to be for four years worth roughly $9.48 million dollars. This will include a signing bonus of about $5.1 million dollars. The contract will include a fifth year option that can be exercised after the 2019 season.
This is a pretty great deal for Paxton Lynch. As Aric Manthey told me, this could become something of a six year deal if they decide to use the franchise tag. This would really help out in regards to the defense. Von Miller is projected to be one, if not the highest, paid defensive players in the NFL.
For Paxton Lynch, he is in the middle of a quarterback competition. As of right now, he is listed as the third quarterback behind Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian. But there could be a chance that he could be ready at worst after the first year.
Lynch was taken with the 26th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. It was reported that the Dallas Cowboys were interested in drafting him. But the Broncos were able to close the deal with the Seattle Seahawks before the move could be made.

The Denver Broncos have been looking for a long term franchise quarterback since the John Elway days. And we are hopeful that Paxton Lynch can be that guy to be able to contribute to the team for a long time coming.
He had a solid career at Memphis, throwing for almost 8,900 yards and 59 touchdowns. Will he be able to adjust and become one of the best young stars in the league? Only time will tell. For now, it is a great feeling to have Lynch ready to go with a deal.
