Broncos’ fans have Von Miller news, but it is not the news all will like to hear.

Miller will reject the 6-year $114 million dollar deal with $39 million guaranteed in the first two years.

This is an important season for Miller as he established himself as a perennial pro bowler since the first time Broncos drafted him in 2011. Miller for the longest time has emulated his game after ex-Kansas City Chief Derrick Thomas. Broncos originally were to use the Chiefs contract of Justin Houston as a template for a new contract, but that all changed when Olivier Vernon signed the unprecedented contract this offseason. The Super Bowl 50 MVP deserves the big contract and head coach Gary Kubiak is feeling anxious.

“I’m very anxious. I’d love to see him here before we call it a summer. I got to see him yesterday. He looked good. You want all your guys here. I think things have been very positive. That’s not my end of the stick. He and John are working on that, but I think things have been going very good, so it’d be nice to see him possibly before we get through here,” Kubiak on contract talks with Von Miller.

In my opinion, a deal will still get done. There is no way the Broncos encounter a situation like Josh Norman with Miller. It just does not seem plausible for the Broncos to allow Miller to walk away; however, for the deal to get done, the team will have to pony up and pay Miller $20 million a year with more guaranteed money for it to put pen to paper. That all said, Mike Klis’ last paragraph in the article will scare the hearts of Broncos’ fans everywhere.

“It’s unclear whether Miller would play on the $14.129 million tag if it comes to that. It’s possible he could sit out the season because that would prevent the Broncos from again applying the ‘exclusive’ franchise tag next  year,” Klis wrote.

Tune in back for July 15 to see if the Broncos sign Miller to the long term contact.
