Defensive Line (8)

Malik Jackson (DE), Sylvester Williams (NT), Marvin Austin (DE), Derek Wolfe, Darius Kilgo, Vance Walker, Antonio Smith, Kenny Anunike

The Broncos defensive line was in the midst of having themselves all squared away before the start of training camp. However, news broke out a few days ago that Derek Wolfe, the teams second round pick in 2012, will be serving a four game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

That news puts the Broncos in a tough situation, but not a critical one. With the play of Malik Jackson and Marvin Austin, the Broncos should be in good shape until Wolfe’s return. The suspension however gives a player on the roster a chance to be part of the final roster.

Sylvester Williams was a big question mark heading into organized team activities and mini-camp, especially with the departure of Terrance Knighton. However, Williams has proven himself and should be announced the opening day starter unless Darius Kilgo can make some sort of huge impression.

I believe that the suspension to Derek Wolfe paves the way for Kenny Anunike to earn a spot on the final roster. He looked really good in training camp last year until an elbow injury prematurely ended his season. But he has come back even stronger and looks ready to play the defensive end position.
