Doss proved in his time at Tulane that he has phenomenal ball skills and instincts at the cornerback position. Unfortunately for him, the Broncos are incredibly deep at cornerback.
Obviously John Elway thinks highly of this guy to add another player at arguably the team’s greatest position of strength. He could perhaps be grooming him as a nickel/dime defensive back for the future, but I think for the 2015 season, we’re going to see plenty of Doss on special teams.
That’s where he’ll make his living, initially. It’s going to be tough to compete for snaps behind Bradley Roby and Kayvon Webster, perhaps even Tony Carter and Omar Bolden, so defensively we might not see a ton of Doss once the pre-season concludes, and that’s okay. He needs time to develop, but he can earn playing time as a special teamer early on.
