A year ago at training camp, we were looking at potentially the next big undrafted free agent for the Broncos to make the roster and make an instant impact. Anunike was injured, placed on injured reserve, and his rookie season would have to wait until 2015.
The Broncos may have unearthed a real gem here in Anunike, who is again receiving rave reviews at OTAs for his aggressiveness, instincts, and disruptive style of play. He’s put on some weight to hold up as a 3-4 lineman, and while the Broncos are fairly deep on the defensive front, he seems like he could be in line to make an impact in his 2nd NFL season.
Whether it’s using a power rush, creating disruption in passing lanes, or using his phenomenal upper body strength to re-direct the running game, Anunike is a player who — if healthy — could wind up being a major part of the Broncos’ defensive line rotation.
