I know I’m cheating here by including two players, but I think the Broncos have the most underrated duo of linebackers in the NFL right now. That could be a bit of a tunnel vision statement, but I’m excited about the potential these two players have together in the Wade Phillips defense, cleaning up for one of the most talented defensive fronts in the league.

In 2013, Danny Trevathan balled out for the Broncos, producing 129 tackles, four forced fumbles, three interceptions, two sacks, and 10 pass breakups. He was one of the best linebackers in the NFL that year, and not many people knew about it. He was especially great down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs. It looked like he would be the next star player on the Broncos’ defense prior to two knee injuries knocking him out last year. He will come back in 2015 with a vengeance.

He’ll be joined (off the injured list as well) by fellow WLB Brandon Marshall. The two were only on the field together for a very brief time last year, but the Broncos found another gem in Marshall, who initially came to the team off of waivers from Jacksonville.

Last season, Marshall racked up 113 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and nine pass breakups. He was one of the Broncos’ highest graded defensive players, and led the team with 53 ‘stops’ or solo tackles that constitute an offensive failure.

These two linebackers provided more production than they likely will together on the field, but the Broncos have a heck of a pair here and it won’t be long before the rest of the NFL world knows as well.
