Sleepers

Owen Daniels

Wherever Gary Kubiak goes, tight end Owen Daniels is sure to follow. It’s truly smart on Daniels part because he’s experienced a fair amount of success with Kubiak throughout his ten year career.

Replacing an oft-injured Dennis Pitta last season in Baltimore, Daniels was able to reel in 48 receptions for 527 yards. In Denver reunited with Kubiak and offensive coordinator Rick Dennison, the versatile veteran should excel once again. Having Peyton Manning as your quarterback, who seemingly makes any tight end look like the second coming of Shannon Sharpe, can’t hurt, either.

Age may have slowed Daniels but he’s still a dark horse candidate and could build on his solid numbers from a season ago. Keep an eye on him, folks.

Virgil Green

With Julius Thomas out of the picture, and after receiving a nice little contract extension, tight end Virgil Green looks to be in line for a breakout season. His untapped potential as a pass-catcher and freakish athleticism give him the chance to split time with/possibly overtake Owen Daniels on the depth chart.

Peyton Manning should also elevate Green’s game far beyond what we’ve seen to this point. His days of six-catch seasons may have finally come to an end.

Cody Latimer

He was nearly picked as one of the numerical members on this slideshow, as Cody Latimer just gushes with promise and talent.

The only thing holding the second-year receiver back is the fact that Latimer’s role in the offense and how many balls he’ll get thrown his way is pretty murky at this point, especially with Demaryius Thomas still M.I.A.
