Defensive Tackle
As soon as it was learned that fan favorite Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton wouldn’t be returning to Denver, defensive tackle immediately became a position of need. The Broncos are pretty stacked as of right now with Sylvester Williams, Derek Wolfe, Marvin Austin Jr., and recently acquired linemen in Vance Walker and Antonio Smith, but the Broncos might want to look to the draft to find Knighton-esque impact.
An ideal fit for Denver’s new 3-4 defense and a destructive force alike, Washington’s Danny Shelton would fill Knighton’s shoes seamlessly. Standing at roughly 6’1, 343 pounds, Shelton is absolutely massive and has the ability to make his presence immediately felt on defense.
It’d really be a luxury pick for John Elway to take a defensive tackle when there are so many other glaring needs.
Malcom Brown is the man that is likely to fall to the Broncos here. His unique size allows him to excel in the 3-4 while still overwhelm opposing linemen, something he did game-in and game-out last season for the Texas Longhorns.
It’d really be a luxury pick for John Elway to take a defensive tackle when there are so many other glaring needs. Yet, if a player like Danny Shelton falls to them, it’d be hard to pass him up.
