Cedric Ogbuehi (6’5 306), Texas A&M

Games Evaluated: @ Missouri (2013), @ South Carolina, @ Mississippi State

Pass Pro Technique- Shows off a good base but can get a little high at times. Has antsy hands and will punch at air. At the same time, he lets his man get into him before he lands his punch. Does a great job of using his inside arm to shove his man past the pocket.

Run Technique- Looks to shove instead of breakdown and drive when he gets to the second level.

Hands- Very soft hands that don’t really affect his man when he punches them. Needs more consistent hand placement, especially on runs. Has quick hands, but his timing with them is off. Sometimes he’s too quick, and a lot of the time he’s too slow. He has flashed the ability to knock down the arms of rushers.

Extension- Will use one arm to extend. This isn’t a bad thing, as long as it’s his inside arm.

Feet- Has a good kick slide, but at times hesitates to keep kicking. Has quick feet that enable him to match outside-inside moves and handle them.

Fluidity- Shows good flexibility in his joints in pass pro; sits in the chair. Can get a bit high sometimes but isn’t a waist-bender.

Strength- Lower body strength looks great, especially in pass protection. Upper body needs some work; never really pushes anyone off their path with his punch.

Effort/Toughness- Doesn’t bury guys when he gets them off balance. Usually just does what’s required and doesn’t always play to the whistle.

Instincts- Takes bad angles when getting to the second level and over pursues linebackers. Does a good job selling pass with his feet on run plays to shield block. Consistently locks down stunts with his quick recognition. Uses rushers’ momentum to his advantage my shoving them past the pocket.

Balance- Has a pretty good anchor that he trusts (sometimes to a fault) and puts one leg in front of the other to prevent a defensive push.

Athleticism- Can get to the second level well, he just isn’t efficient when getting there.

OVERVIEW: Ogbuehi looks the part of a franchise left tackler. He’s also a smart player that knows his assignments and rarely shows confusion. His pass protection is exceptional but he still has some things to fix, mainly his hands. He’s shown improvement with his placement and has quickness, but his timing is off and his punch is soft. He will also have to adjust how he plays the run in the NFL. His college offense called for a lot of draws so many of his run blocks were just shield and cut blocks. He has a scary tendency to let guys into his chest before he punches.

THREE WORDS: Athletic, soft, quick

PROJECTION: 3rd round
