Per Mike Klis of the Denver Post, it’s very likely that 4 Denver Broncos will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP).
Although he mentions that nothing is “decided” yet, it’s very likely that all 4 players will in fact be on the PUP. He says:
"The preseason PUP is for those who have yet to pass their physical exams. Broncos players won’t take their physicals until Wednesday"
Last week, we talked about Von Miller and Chris Harris, Jr reportedly being held out of the Broncos’ first preseason game, as they recover from their respective ACL injuries.
Joining the PUP conversation are defensive tackle, Kevin Vickerson, who is still recovering from a grievous hip injury, and tight end, Joel Dreessen, who had yet another surgery on his bum knee.

Unless Vickerson’s recovery takes a turn for the worse, it’s highly likely that he’ll make the Broncos’ final 53-man roster. Dreessen, on the other hand, hasn’t been able to stay healthy for a year and is set to make $3.5M in the last year of his deal.
With the rise of Julius Thomas, and the development of the Broncos’ two other young tight ends, in Virgil Green and Gerrell Robinson, it’s probable that Dreessen will be a camp casualty. The Broncos are probably just being the classy dudes that they are and giving Dreessen time to recover before they cut him, so that he has a chance to catch on with another team before the season begins in earnest.
