The Denver Broncos will be without their ‘Batman’ to Von Miller’s ‘Robin’ as DeMarcus Ware will miss at least three weeks with a broken forearm…

The Denver Broncos prepared for this moment, and linebacker DeMarcus Ware will now be out for at least three weeks with a forearm injury suffered against the Indianapolis Colts in week two.

There’s no question that DeMarcus Ware is an impact player for this Denver Broncos defense, but they have been prepared for his absence with the drafting of Shane Ray and the development of Shaquil Barrett. We also saw some snaps on Sunday for Dekoda Watson, a breakout preseason player who emerged with a position change to edge rusher.

Ware is the type of player the Broncos just need to be healthy for five weeks of the season, and that’s during the playoffs. If he is at full speed come playoff time, the Broncos’ edge duo of Ware and Von Miller is unstoppable, as we have seen.

Miller was in another league on Sunday against the Colts as he dismantled Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis offensive line, while Ware was having another solid game off the edge before going down with injury.

As much as it stinks to see Ware go down with this kind of injury, the opportunity is there for Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett to flex the Broncos’ depth at the position. Ray was the one who picked up Von Miller’s latest strip sack and he took it for his first NFL score.

Ray made a couple of nice plays against the Carolina Panthers in week one, including a critical third down tackle for loss on Cam Newton. He made a similarly nice play against the Colts short of the line to gain and of course, he is now riding the confidence of his first NFL scoop and score.

There’s plenty of optimism despite the injury to Ware, and hopefully this is an opportunity for former first round pick Shane Ray to show he belongs permanently.
