The Denver Broncos trail the San Francisco 49ers 17-10 at the end of the first half. Let us take a look closely at how the first half went for the Broncos.

The Denver Broncos are currently trailing the San Francisco 49ers 17-10 going into the halftime. It has been almost a tale of two quarters. In the first quarter, the Broncos looked great.

Trevor Siemian led the offense down the field with his first drive and it ended with a C.J. Anderson touchdown run. The remainder of the first quarter went well.

Then in the second quarter, it went downhill. With most of the first team out of the game, the San Francisco 49ers took advantage. A pick six and then a touchdown drive gave them a 14-7 lead.

Mark Sanchez then took over and led the team to three points in his first drive. It was a solid drive, but did stall as the team got close to the red zone.

Let us take a look at some key moments from the first half of this game.

Trevor Siemian has a solid game… minus one play

The first quarter looked great for the second year player out of Northwestern. He led the team down the field on a 10 play, 81 yard drive. It looked as crisp and clean than I have seen from Siemian.

For the remainder of the quarter, he looked great. But then the first play of the second quarter, Siemian threw a pick six. It was not a pretty sight. It appeared that the interception rattled him a bit.

Honestly, I think Siemian did a pretty solid job. He finished the game 10 of 14 passing for 75 yards with one interception. It will be interesting to see how Gary Kubiak approaches this week’s practice.

He may have a decision to make on a starting quarterback for the Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers soon.

Special Teams Returners have not looked good

Kalif Raymond, in my opinion, is really trying too hard to make an impression in the return game. On the kickoffs that have gone in the end zone, he has not kneeled down.

With the new rules, a touchback would put the team at the 25 yard line. But Raymond apparently wants to test his running. There is a time and place for everything. This is not one of those times. Practice getting good field position.

Virgil Green has looked pretty solid

The Denver Broncos have been looking for the tight end to help replace the production left by Julius Thomas. Virgil Green appears to want that job.

He has had a solid camp and preseason thus far and appears to be a near lock to be the starting tight end for the Denver Broncos. He has recorded four receptions for 57 yards. Not too shabby at all. I think Green will be a solid contributor this season.

The San Francisco 49ers will get the ball to start the second half. Let’s go Broncos!
