After their 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos have been selected as one of the nominees for this year’s ESPYs for “Best Team.” Do they have a chance to win the award in July?

It has been almost five months since the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50. And while the team is focused on preparing for next season, there could be at least one more reason to celebrate this occasion before the raising of the banner on September 8th.

The annual sports award show, the ESPYs, have selected the 2015 Denver Broncos team as a nominee for this year’s award for best team. They will be competing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Kansas City Royals, Alabama Crimson Tide, Connecticut Huskies Women’s Basketball, and Villanova Wildcats Men’s Basketball. Each of the teams won their championships in their sports.

World Wresting Entertainment superstar John Cena will be hosting the award ceremony on July 13th.

The Denver Broncos and players have won eight ESPY’s since the show started in 1993. The earlier awards came in response to the team winning the Super Bowl’s in 1998 and 1999. However, they have won an ESPY whenever the team did not win the big game. The Tim Tebow to Demaryius Thomas moment in 2012 won best moment later that year.

Denver Broncos Super Bowl MVP Von Miller will also be up for an individual award for “Best Championship Performance” where he will go up against Carli Lloyd, Sidney Crosby, and LeBron James.

This is pretty exciting that the Denver Broncos are getting recognized for their efforts from this season. With how successful the defense was last season and winning the Super Bowl in Peyton Manning’s final game of his career, it was somewhat of a Cinderella season in my opinion.

Good luck to the Broncos and let us see if they can add another trophy to the case before the 2016 season officially begins.
