NFL Draft 2016: The Denver Broncos used the 228th overall pick and their seventh round pick in the NFL Draft on punter Riley Dixon from Syracuse University.

With the Denver Broncos seventh round draft pick in 2016, they have selected Riley Dixon, who is a punter from Syracuse University.

This is very interesting. The Broncos have Britton Colquitt on the roster already, which makes this pick somewhat intriguing. I figure that Riley Dixon would be in for competition. Colquitt did not do all that bad last year.

Dixon had 43 punts inside the 20, which is really impressive for a punter in college. He also averaged almost half of his punts to be fair caught, which means his hang time is really impressive. Only nine touchbacks in the last two years is impressive as well.

The only thing that could be an issue is him punting in the wind at Mile High. Since he was a dome kicker, it could present an issue.

Here is what Lance Zierlein had to say about the punter from Syracuse.

Big punter with relativity calm demeanor and a what you see is what you get skill set as a punter. While he has a knack of keeping punts out of the end zone, his lack of big leg will likely cause him to go undrafted.”

Well, the Broncos are taking their chance with Dixon. Guess we will see what happens with the punter position during training camp.
