For the time being, the Denver Broncos seem to be under the NFL radar. That could give them a huge advantage.

The Broncos have been known for their high octane offense under the leadership of Peyton Manning. However, ever since they have gone into a more balanced offense, they have either been ridiculed for the lack of offensive explosion or have gone unnoticed. They believe Peyton Manning is “washed up” because he hasn’t thrown for over 300 yards in a game since the shocking upset to the St. Louis Rams. The media is constantly talking about how great the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks have been since their slumps and how the Green Bay Packers could do some damage in the playoffs, even as far as saying that they are Super Bowl bound.

While the Broncos have strayed away from their usual offensive attack, the other teams have been mentioned more. Flying under the radar could be a good thing for the Broncos.

What fans are seeing (if they are paying attention) is a brand new offensive strategy from the Denver Broncos. Instead of relying on Peyton Manning to win the football game, they have decided to go the old fashion way. By attacking the line of scrimmage and playing shut down defense. The running game came alive when C.J. Anderson took over for an injured Ronnie Hillman against the Oakland Raiders in Week 10. Minus the game against the Rams, Anderson has racked up over 150 total yards in three of the last six games he has played. Juwan Thompson has shown some signs of a bruising running back, and even ran the ball for a long gain. Because the running game has been so successful, the fact the Peyton Manning is not relied on and the Broncos are going the old school way, they have seemed to fallen off the map and hiding under the radar.

For those who are saying that the ground and pound game will not get it done (which is not true, just look at the 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers) then I will say this once again… Defense Wins Championships!

Quietly, the Denver Broncos defense has developed themselves into a formidable unit. They rank number four in total defensive yards allowed and rank second in running yards allowed. And if the run does not work for the opposing offense, the team has quite an impressive secondary with Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, Rahim Moore, and T.J. Ward. Even Bradley Roby has made some plays here and there as the nickle corner. This team right looks like they could be the dark horse to do some damage in the playoffs.

So, while everyone focuses on the Patriots, Seahawks, and Packers, the Denver Broncos will keep doing what they do best. They might be unnoticed for the time being, but they will emerge from the radar and could surprise some people.
