The contract situation between Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas has been an intriguing one. For the last couple months, there were talks about both players getting extensions. However, it appears after six games into their season, that the team is putting the talks aside for the time being. Deciding to take the contract talks off the table until the end of the season is the smartest move that the team could have done.

The first thing it does is allow the Broncos to focus on what is happening in front of them right now. They are the best team in the AFC as of right now and they should focus on playing the best football so that they are in the best position when the playoffs begin.

The contract talks could be a huge distraction for both parties involved, or in this case the three parties involved. Not only will this help, but it will also give both players somewhat of a final showing on if both players deserve a contract extension.

Holding off on the contract talks also will allow the Broncos to look even more closely at the contracts that Dez Bryant and Jimmy Graham got. When the season is all said and done, the Broncos can take a look at what Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas have done this year and try to construct a contract that could be around the area of both Bryant and Graham.

It was hoped that the two players would be locked up sooner rather than later so that they can focus on other items during the offseason. But with players like Terrance Knighton, Wes Welker, and Chris Harris entering the last year of their contracts, it is better for the team to focus on all of the contracts at once rather than run out of money on two players and not sign a player that earned an extension.

Be patient Broncos Country, it is only a matter of time when Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas are locked up and playing in the orange and navy for years to come.
