For those of you (like me) who care to know about this, a number of Denver Broncos players have changed jersey numbers after roster cut downs. Here’s what I noticed on the official roster:

  • Linebacker Corey Nelson — 47 to 52
  • Defensive End Kenny Anunike — 68 to 91
  • Linebacker Shaquil Barrett — 48 to 50

This is not earth shattering news by any means but some might be wondering who number 52 is if Nelson is made an active player in the Broncos’ first game against the Colts. He takes over the number 52, which was worn this preseason by Jerrell Harris.

Anunike changes from Zane Beadles’ old number to the one vacated by Sione Fua, who is yet to be picked up by another team. Barrett drops the number worn by Peyton Hillis as a rookie and adopts the one that was previously worn by linebacker L.J. Fort.

Just filing through the roster, I also noticed that the Broncos kept defensive end John Youboty on the injured reserve. Youboty hurt himself and was declared out for the season after April OTAs. Youboty spent all of last year on the Broncos’ practice squad, and would have tried to help add even more depth and playmaking ability to a defensive line that is the deepest the Broncos have had since I can remember.
