Eric Decker didn’t exactly have a career-day against the Chargers in the Broncos divisional playoff win. When he high-stepped a sure fire punt return for a touchdown into a face plant, that’s when we knew the stars were just not aligned right for No. 87.

“That was an outstanding return,” John Fox said on Monday. “He made a lot of good cuts and movement to get into that position. After that, maybe not so much.”

The turf monster got Decker again in back to back years.

“Honestly that has not happened to me in my previous experiences but I have done it two years now against San Diego,” Decker said. “I have to get over that tripping.”

Just before halftime, a pass bounced off his chest in the end zone and landed in the arms of the Chargers. The Chargers took the kneel down and didn’t put any points on the board, but they definitely took points away from the Broncos.

Finally, Decker muffed the onside kick in the fourth quarter.

Decker finished the game with two catches for 32 yards on five targets. There’s no way he has back to back games like that, especially after a 1,288-yard, 11 touchdown regular season.

Look out, Patriots. Decker is coming back for a breakout game.
