Lynched!

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yesterday, John Lynch asked to be released from the Broncos in order to play for another team (or retire). He exited before the Broncos had the chance to Lynch him from the team. A graceful bow- out? Absolutely. After skipping Tuesday night’s meeting and being excused from Wednesday morning’s practice, Lynch saw that the door was wide open at Dove Valley. He was with the team for 4 years after completing an 11 year stint in Tampa Bay. Lynch was concerned about his playing time being cut because the Broncos added Marlon McCree and Marquand Manuel (both starting safeties) in the off-season. Lynch was not satisfied with only a role as “mentor.” In fact, Hamza [...]

Great Overweight Athletes

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I reported yesterday that Broncos’ right guard Montrae Holland reported to camp 9 lbs. overweight and has to shed the pounds before practicing with his team. Holland weighed 350-360 lbs. during the off-season, and lost a lot of it before reporting to camp. He has jeopardized his starting spot and his health. Here’s a video of Holland explaining his condition.
Some people might say that it’s part of his job to stay in top physical condition even during the off-season. Do you see marathon runners smoking a pack a day during their off-season? Would you want to see your brain surgeon hungover the day before he/she preformed your [...]

Broncos Camp: Players Try To Lose Weight And Pee In Cup

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, News | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

- I thought Ryan Torain looked good during the first day of camp. Apparently, he’s been running stronger and taking some harder hits in camp, but can he be part of the solution to the Broncos running game? Mike Klis thinks so.
- Jason Elam is feeling weird these days. I wonder if it’s the new uniform?
- D.J. Williams, Boss Bailey, and Selvin Young were late to practice on Monday. The three had trouble urinating into a cup.
- Hamza Abdullah retires from special teams. He was pulled from special teams practice because he is the Broncos only every down safety and isn’t needed for kickoffs [...]

Girls Can’t Kick

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Being a kicker in the NFL is tough. Fans who sit in front of the tube each Sunday are guaranteed to see an important field goal attempt. The job of a kicker really can be described as “Hours of Boredom Surrounded by a few Seconds of Panic.” In a previous post, I suggested that this guy replace Jason Elam as the Broncos field goal kicker, but maybe a girl would be better suited for the job. Take a look:

Behind Enemy Lines-Broncos Edition

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL, News | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The AFC West bloggers at Fan-Sided have been asked to give an assessment of the other teams in the AFC West. The division is once again trying to regain its status as one of the top divisions in the league, but it seems that all of the teams (except Chargers) are in a rebuilding stage. I will argue that the AFC West has some of the best fans in the league. Ask any NFL player which stadium he dreads playing in, and I guarantee an AFC West field will be included in his answer. With that said, here are some observations and a few predictions about other teams in the [...]

Broncos First Day Of Camp

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Breaking News, Broncos, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, News | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

This post is dedicated to the dude wearing the Colts t-shirt at Broncos camp today.
A few sideline observations from today’s first practice:
- Players that impressed me the most -
1. WR Glenn Martinez - impressed the crowd with some tough catches from Cutler.
2. Eddie Royal – believe me when I tell you that this guy is fast. He had a couple of solid catches against Hamza Abdullah when the offense and defense went up against each other. He’s still got a lot to learn about protecting the ball though.
3. ALL of the backs - I’m convinced Michael Pittman is a vet in a rookie’s body. Selvin Young had some swift cuts and explosive speed fifteen [...]

In Rod We Trust

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, News, Video | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

We knew this day was coming. Today, at 2:00 p.m. Rod Smith makes his retirement official. He will probably shed a few tears as he takes the podium at Dove Valley to talk about his 13 years as a Denver Bronco. An undrafted free agent, Smith set numerous receiving records, and was a three time Pro Bowler. With all of the TD’s he scored, not once did he spike the ball or break out in dance. He reportedly has many choreographed routines in his head.
I get nostalgic thinking about the players in the Broncos’ two Super Bowl wins. Players such as Ed McCaffrey, Shannon Sharpe, John Elway, Terrell Davis, etc. [...]

Broncos Training Camp Change

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Fanzone/Tailgating | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Broncos have decided to do check-ins and physicals on Friday morning before the first practice. Therefore, practice #1 will be pushed back to 11:15 a.m., and practice #2 will be held at 4:05 p.m. Practices are open to the public at no cost. Nothing is scheduled for Thursday except for Rod Smith’s press conference.
