As bad as this year was for the Broncos starting with the Jan. 1, 2007 shooting of cornerback, Darrent Williams, and then having a 7-9 season, the Broncos did their best to end the year on a high note. After losing a 16 point lead in the final ticks of regulation, Jason Elam won the game for the Broncos for the fourth time this season with a fieldgoal in overtime.
John Lynch and Rod Smith do not know if they will be returning for another season (Yahoo Sports). Lynch has been pondering retirement for a few years now, and Smith may have to undergo career ending hip replacement surgery. At least they both went out [...]

We all know that Travis Henry had a rough season on and off the field. He was the NFL’s leading rusher through four games, but then injuries (broken ribs, torn knee ligament) became the stories of his season among other things. What is Henry’s solution to this problem? More time in the gym.
He says, ” I’m going to train and I’m going to train smarter…I’ve got to find a different type of fitness.” Henry will be bringing in his personal trainer who had worked with him in Tennessee.
H/T: Denver Post
Because Henry needs to prevent injuries for next season, and he wants to spice things up a little, I’ve decided to throw in [...]
Some quick mid week notes:
Kicker, Jason Elam, 37, could get the chance to send a booming punt into the Mile High air on Sunday (Denver Post). Let’s see what he’s got! Nothing to lose on our end.
Champ Bailey is not fond of Chargers QB, Philip Rivers. After Rivers taunted Jay Cutler on the sideline, Bailey said, “I don’t care for the guy first of all. He’s not a respectable guy right now because you talk too much trash and do this and that, but you’re really not a great player in this league right now.”
Rivers’ response to incident:
“I don’t think I have to defend [...]
This guy put the title from my last post on his sign:
On Christmas morning I guess there were a lot of disappointed Broncos fans that had to explain their team’s miserable loss to friends and family. Truth is, it’s hard to justify this season. After going 9-7 and nearly making the playoffs last year, the Broncos expected more from themselves. John Lynch said,
“We had very high hopes coming into this year. It’s been an extremely frustrating year. And to get whooped a couple of times by a division opponent is no fun and you’re out there trying to do everything you can to [...]
5 reasons why the Broncos could pull off the upset in San Diego:
1. The Broncos defense will make an appearance. Defensive coach, Jim Bates, knows that he is on the chopping block. These last two games against San Diego and Minnesota take him out of the frying pan and put him directly into the flame.
2. John Lynch gets some home cooking and he wants a win for possibly his last game at Qualcomm (Denver Post).
3. Mike Shanahan does not want to finish the season below .500. He says “I think you always want to end the season on a positive note. We’d like to play our best football [...]
For the past 30 years, every time the Broncos score a point, there is a 69 year old Denver woman that celebrates the score by setting off 6 electric car horns. Jeri Priest put her horns to rest this week not because of the Broncos terrible season, but because a neighbor who is a lawyer complained about the excessive noise.
Her husband of 48 years, Larry, ”hooked six car horns together, electrified them with a battery and then ran a cord to Jeri so when the Broncos scored, all she had to do was touch a button and the horns would sound”. Now that’s love and support [...]
Invesco Field will be silent after (and maybe during) the final game of the Broncos‘ 2007 season. Players like Jay Cutler and Selvin Young will leave the field, helmets in hand, already looking forward to next summer’s training camps. Brandon Marshall will most likely see an outstanding season characterized by touchdowns and 1,000 receiving yards be overshadowed by the Patriots, Cowboys, and Packers seasons. Mike Shanahan will walk off the field wondering just how he can get Adrian Peterson out of his purple uniform and into orange and blue. He will also see that much work needs to be done in the off-season to be competitive in [...]
The QB coach for the Houston Texans got the last laugh. He may even crack a few jokes about how the Broncos played on Thursday. That’s only because his father is Mike Shanahan. Mike once hoped that his son, Kyle, 27, would take a different career route because “I thought he was too smart for it, but obviously he’s not” (Denver Post). Kyle Shanahan will be in the league for a long time and continue to move up the coaching ranks if he is anything like his father. Should he replace Mike as the Broncos coach one day? Chime in…
A Broncos Punter Using His Fists
Good thing the Broncos‘ offense was up to snuf on Sunday. Punter, Todd Sauerbrun, was cited for assault and taken to detox on Saturday night after some hard partying (Denver Post). He played against the Chiefs on Sunday booting 5 punts into the air with one of them landing inside the 20 yard line. His status will be reviewed by the league.
Brandon Marshall doesn’t have a problem celebrating his touchdown in the snow against Kansas City. When asked about it he said, “that was for my friends and relatives back in Florida. They don’t get to see snow” (Rocky Mountain News).
The Denver weather was a theme in today’s game. With nearly 8,000 empty seats at Invesco, players like Nate Webster and Brandon Marshall were constantly firing up the chilled crowd between plays. What they didn’t realize was that the Broncos flawless game fired us up enough. Jay Cutler’s 20 completions and Selvin Young’s long runs kept the stadium filled with fireworks, and the Chiefs on their heels.
With a devastating loss last week against the Raiders, [...]
