Randy Gregory, DE: $16,100,000

Randy Gregory might just be one of the more controversial aspects on the Denver Broncos. It’s awesome that he has stayed out of trouble as of late. Sure, he was fined for an altercation with a Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman in Oday Aboushi, but players get into those every week. It’s less of an issue than off-field incidents.

The Broncos basically stole Gregory away from the Dallas Cowboys last offseason after a money dispute and it resulted in 12 tackles and two sacks in six games. Unfortunately, that’s not ideal for a player who’s about to have a cap hit of over $16 million. We would love to have seen more.

Gregory spent nine weeks on the shelf as he recovered from a knee injury. No, we cannot predict injuries but looking back, it was just a very unfortunate occurrence.

Gregory turns 31 in November. He currently is on a 5-year, $70 million contract with $28 million guaranteed. I’m so happy that he appears to have his off-field issues in the past but if he can stay on the field and be healthy, that would be phenomenal. He has never finished a whole season, which is very concerning.

His presence on the field would be an even bigger need if the Denver Broncos end up losing Dre’Mont Jones in free agency—which I feel is a strong possibility at this point.
