The Broncos reached their first Super Bowl following the 1977 season with Red Miller as their coach, but Dan Reeves was the guy that really helped turn the team into a regular contender.

Reeves only had two losing seasons in his 12-year career with the Broncos and he took the team to the AFC Championship four times, winning three of them. Unfortunately, he was never able to win the big one with the Broncos but he found success with other teams after leaving Denver, which only helps his Hall of Fame cause.

He was named NFL Coach of the Year in 1993 when he was with the New York Giants and then again in 1998 when he was coaching the Atlanta Falcons. Reeves coached against Elway and the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII, a 34-19 Broncos win, a game that ended up being the last for Elway's career.

Reeves passed away on New Years Day in 2022 at the age of 77. He ranks at No. 9 all-time among head coaches with 190 career wins.
