How many starters do the Denver Broncos need to replace on offense?
The Denver Broncos' offense should be getting a makeover this offseason. How many starters should the team replace on that side of the ball?
The biggest change the team will likely see is along their offensive line, which gave up about 654 sacks in 2022. Not only that, the entire team was decimated by injuries, but it felt like the OL got the brunt of that.
There also may be questions at wide receiver. Could the team make a play for a wide receiver? I don't think Jerry Jeudy is going anywhere unless a team wants to cough up a first-round pick, but I could see the Broncos trading Courtland Sutton for the right price.
Also, do we know if Tim Patrick will return healthy?
How many positions on offense do the Broncos need to replace?
Right now, I think the team needs to replace at least four positions on offense, which is one third of the lineup. To me, that is a significant number.
So, who are those four positions?
Well, I think the team needs to replace Dalton Risner at left guard, Lloyd Cushenberry/Graham Glasgow at center, Billy Turner/Cameron Fleming at right tackle, and Latavius Murray/Javonte Williams at running back.
I do think the team is seriously exploring moving on from Garett Bolles, but at the end of the day, he's a quality tackle in the NFL on a fair contract and would likely return to being just that, so I don't think the team necessarily needs to replace him.
As for the running back situation, Murray is a free agent and there is no guarantee he will be re-signed, and Williams is rehabbing from the knee injury he suffered during the beginning of the 2022 season.
In all likelihood, the Broncos will need to install a true RB1 until Williams can prove he can hold the bulk of the load again.
I could see a few more starters being replaced, but with a brand new coaching staff for the third time in three seasons, I don't think George Paton is going to go crazy with roster changes. I think he'll be active in replacing the positions that need it, but perhaps will keep the aggressiveness tuned down just a hair with all of the change the team has seen so far.
