According to Benjamin Allbright, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could bring in soon to be free agent and former Denver Broncos' QB Drew Lock to potentially start for the team in 2023.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that Tom Brady retired following the 2022 season. This left the Buccaneers with no clear answer at quarterback. The team is also tens of millions over the cap number for 2023 and have already begun making some moves to get under the cap.
Since they may not have much money to spend in free agency, they could turn to cheaper options at quarterback for 2023 and maybe beyond.
According to Benjamin Allbright, the Buccaneers could opt to bring in Drew Lock, who will be a free agent to perhaps battle with Kyle Trask for the starting QB job.
Well, well, well, could Drew Lock get another shot in the NFL to be a starter? If Allbright's hunch is true, then maybe he just could. For many in Broncos Country, Drew Lock was unfairly treated by the coaching staff during his time in Denver.
Most recently while he was still a Bronco, he battled with Teddy Bridgewater for the starting QB job in 2021. Many observed that Lock was clearly the better player during the offseason activities, so it came as a bit of a shock that Bridgewater was named the starter.
Lock was then shipped to the Seattle Seahawks as part of the Russell Wilson trade, where he again got a chance to start but was beaten out by Geno Smith. Now, set to enter his fifth season in the NFL, could he get a third chance to start on his third different team?
This would be quite the development, and frankly, if Lock does sign on with a new team with the potential to start, I'd be rooting for him to win.
