Derrick Henry has been one of the best—if not the best—running backs in all of football for a number of years. While still a productive player, the Tennessee Titans are apparently interested in shipping him off. Could the Denver Broncos acquire the ultra-talented player?

According to recent betting odds, we shouldn’t necessarily rule out this possibility.

Sportsline.com has provided odds for Henry’s team for the 2023 season if it isn’t the Titans. Among the teams listed at the Denver Broncos at +800 odds. In comparison, the most likely team to land Henry is the Buffalo Bills at +300, followed by the Miami Dolphins (+400), New York Giants (+500), and then the Los Angeles Chargers at +600.

Henry has a $16,367,647 cap hit for the upcoming season He just turned 29 years old this past January. I do have concerns. He’s scheduled to hit free agency following the 2023 season. Would the Broncos be willing to sign him for a few more years with an extension? He still could end up being a little too expensive in that regard.

That’s even if he makes it through a whole season healthy. If he doesn’t, and the Broncos already sign him to an extension, that’s a problem.

Henry has been the workhorse for the Titans and it really has shown through his play. Since his first two seasons in the league (2016 and 2017), Henry has gone under the 1,000 yards rushing mark just one time. That’s in 2021, he had 937 yards on the ground… in eight games. In eight games.

That is proof that Henry is still considered one of if not the best.

The Broncos lost Javonte Williams to a torn ACL last season, so it might be a tough year for him. It’s hard to come back from an ACL injury. It’s especially hard when you’re a running back. Oftentimes running backs just aren’t the same after that specific injury. Even still, for the Denver Broncos, is paying a top running back like Henry a good idea? It’s certainly worth it given his tremendous talent but I’m concerned about the longevity of the situation.

If Henry was a couple of years younger and had less tread on his tires, then there’s no way I would not want to do a trade for him. I think that the Broncos should go after a guy such as Miles Sanders in free agency. While he’s still going to command top dollar, he’s just 25 years old and would be a much better option in the long run.
