CBS Sports does not think highly of the Denver Broncos QB situation, ranking them in the bottom half of the NFL heading into free agency. I guess given how bad Russell Wilson was in 2022, it's only fair to rank the team's QB situation this low.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports ranked the Denver Broncos QB situation at 19th overall in the NFL heading into the 2023 NFL offseason.

He's actually put Wilson into his third tier, which he called "Uneasily settled." He identified this tier as being teams who are locked into their current starters but who may come with legitimate concerns.

In this tier includes the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tennessee Titans. Based on the 2022 season, it's not outrageous to put Wilson in this tier, but I tend to lean towards the idea that Russell Wilson did all of a sudden massively drop off this year.

Based on what we know about the Broncos' coaching situation in 2022, it doesn't seem like it could have been worse. Going from Nathaniel Hackett and his band of jabronis to Sean Payton and his band of adults, I have a hard time believing that the veteran QB will only play at a "just barely average" level in 2023.

I just don't buy that he isn't going to bounce back until he doesn't. If Sean Payton cannot get something out of Russell Wilson, then maybe the Denver Broncos are in a bad spot. Being ranked in the same tier with guys like Mac Jones and Kenny Pickett is kind of offensive.

However, I am a firm believer in what the Broncos have done thus far. They have avenues to create tons of cap space and there are some quality free agents on offense who can surely help get this team where they need to be on offense.
