One of the most unfortunate realities of being a bad team is the fact that you get calls from everyone else about trading some of your best players. And the really unfortunate reality for the Denver Broncos right now is this: they might have to say yes. The Broncos are 1-4 with a battle in Kansas City coming up against the Chiefs. If they are 1-5 by the end of the week, we could see a lot of talented players getting traded in the near future. That includes Jerry Jeudy.
As of right now, I would say that Jerry Jeudy is clearly the Denver Broncos' best wide receiver. He's their best all-around threat at the position with the ability to win in short/intermediate situations as well as winning downfield and after the catch. But through his first three-plus seasons in the NFL, I think it's safe to say we have yet to see Jeudy realize his full potential, aside from a variety of occasions.
He's managed to be productive nonetheless, but the Broncos either need to involve Jeudy more or get the best value for him that they possibly can. Which teams could come calling about Jerry Jeudy? Well, more than just five, but we're going to look at five specific options.
5 trade destinations for Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy
1. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers don't make the most sense to trade for Jeudy in terms of, they are 0-5 right now and not exactly "going for it" this season. But they could make a lot of sense for Jeudy in terms of getting a true go-to threat for young quarterback Bryce Young, the top pick in this year's draft.
Bryce Young is slowly acclimating to life in the NFL after a handful of dominant years at Alabama and it's obviously been tough. The Panthers have invested at receiver but not everything has worked out the way they had hoped.
If the Broncos could get Carolina's third-round pick in 2024, it could end up being the top pick of round three.
2. Dallas Cowboys
To me, the Dallas Cowboys are one of the most obvious teams in the NFL right now that needs to get aggressive. Specifically, they need to fix what they messed up when they decided to trade away Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns for peanuts. The Cowboys haven't recovered from that trade, and they don't have any secondary weapons in the passing game to really even just get by at this point.
None of Michael Gallup, Brandin Cooks, or young Jalen Tolbert are working out for them. The Cowboys let tight end Dalton Schultz walk in free agency. They just desperately need help alongside CeeDee Lamb at the wide receiver position and Jerry Jeudy would be a massive upgrade for them.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
When it comes to NFL GMs, I think Eagles GM Howie Roseman is my spirit animal. He is so aggressive, so calculated, and he truly considers every possible deal. I love that Roseman operates quietly, but you can safely assume that if a good player is available, the Eagles are going to be in on it.
So why would Jerry Jeudy be any different?
Yes, the Eagles have AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. Yes, they have Dallas Goedert. But they probably figure, why would we not add Jerry Jeudy for a couple of mid-round picks? We'll find a way to get them back anyway. Or, our roster is good enough to sustain that kind of draft capital loss.
The Eagles are in a position to take risks like this in trades because they have built something special. And adding Jerry Jeudy to their offense would be lethal.
4. Buffalo Bills
It feels like the Buffalo Bills have been in the rumor mill for a long time at this point regarding the wide receiver position. Gabriel Davis is in a contract year and I think Jeudy could be a great complement long-term with Stefon Diggs. Maybe even take over his mantle someday of being the Bills' WR1.
I could see Buffalo getting aggressive at the trade deadline and making a deal like this because Jeudy could immediately insert into their offense and give Josh Allen another lethal weapon in the passing game who can excel after the catch.
Plus, former Broncos have done well for Buffalo's offense. Isaiah McKenzie and Emmanuel Sanders have both contributed to a number of big wins for them. And at least in this case, we'd still likely be able to watch Jeudy try and beat the Chiefs at some point.
5. Miami Dolphins
The last thing the Miami Dolphins probably need at this point is a wide receiver. Great. Who cares?
This is a team that has done such a great job of putting playmakers in a position to succeed, and this would be a homecoming for Jerry Jeudy. The Dolphins made a big trade with the Broncos last year for Bradley Chubb, and they already have a ton of former Broncos on their coaching staff and roster, so what's one more?
Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was head coach of the Broncos when Jerry Jeudy was drafted. I think even with the Dolphins adding Chase Claypool, reuniting Jeudy with Tua Tagovailoa (his college QB at Alabama) and throwing him in the mix with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill? Wow.
