4 former Broncos who didn't fare well in new places in 2022
Looking at the Denver Broncos' 2022 offseason, the team didn't lose any huge names to free agency. The trade to acquire Russell Wilson was obviously one of the biggest moves across the league last season and that stole most of the headlines.
But the Broncos did well for themselves in free agency, adding pieces such as Alex Singleton and D.J. Jones while hanging onto guys like Kareem Jackson and Josey Jewell. Of course, there were some players that slipped away, including both of the quarterbacks that battled for the starting position heading into the 2022 season.
There were some other players that were moved in trades or signed elsewhere as well and some of them didn't have great fortunes in their new homes.
Kyle Fuller, Cornerback, Baltimore Ravens
It looked like a great move when the Broncos signed Kyle Fuller as a free agent in 2021 but he didn't have a great season for the team that year and found his way to the bench.
The Baltimore Ravens signed the veteran as a free agent this past offseason and he played in just one game for the team before suffering a torn ACL. After signing a one-year deal with the Ravens, his time there may be relegated to just that one game.
He will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and could be looking for a new team. He also just turned 31 years old and the argument can easily be made that his best days in the league are likely behind him.
Stephen Weatherly, Defensive End, Cleveland Browns
The Broncos acquired Stephen Weatherly via a midseason trade in 2021 and he actually played good for the team in spots. He made a good case for the team to bring him back but the team chose not to.
After sitting on the free-agent market for a month, Weatherly agreed to a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. But like Fuller, an injury took him out for the entire season and this one occurred before the preseason even kicked off.
Like Fuller, Weatherly will also be an unrestricted free agent and he will turn 29 years old in March. The market for his services likely won't be that big.
