OG Will Hernandez (Cardinals free agent)

Another intriguing option at guard will be former Arizona Cardinals OG Will Hernandez. He is more of a typical pass blocker than a run blocker, which separates him from the other players at the position in free agency.

Hernandez was the 34th overall pick in the 2018 draft and was selected by the New York Giants. He signed a one-year prove-it deal with the Cardinals in 2022 and played pretty well. Hernandez improved as a run blocker but still had some lapses at times. Payton and the staff in Denver can improve that aspect of his game.

One thing you can count on with Hernandez is protecting Wilson in the passing game. He's known for that being the biggest strength of his game around the league and teams need that this upcoming season.

According to PFF, his market value will be $4M annually, with $6.25M guaranteed. That is extremely cheap and affordable for the Broncos.

Acquiring Hernandez would be great in all aspects. He provides stability at the position with an affordable contract. He'd be an upgrade over Risner and can be a part of a revamped interior line that focuses on a scheme that fits him best. Payton knows how to get the most out of his players, and Hernandez can become one of the most consistent guys in the group.

Another huge and underrated part about Hernandez is he can perform exceptionally well at either side of the ball as he has experience playing left and right guard, with most of his snaps coming for LG.
