Jamel Dean, Cornerback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jamel Dean will probably cost a pretty penny as a free agent. Spotrac predicts that Dean will receive a contract worth up to $16.5 million annually this offseason.
But if you want a starting-caliber cornerback in this league, it is going to cost. And the Broncos could use another one.
Damarri Mathis was solid as a rookie and K'Waun Williams looks like a great find for a slot corner but the addition of Dean, to pair on the boundary opposite of Patrick Surtain could make the defense that much better.
Dean is not a shutdown cornerback and he is not going to display elite ball skills. What he will do is show toughness and physicality against the opposing targets in the passing game and that is what you need to do against Kansas City.
Dean has the ability to throw wide receivers off their routes by being disruptive against their release and he could even be an option to help out against Travis Kelce due to that ability.
Dean's combination of size, speed and athleticism makes him an effective and desirable player to have on defense and if the Broncos could swing the price tag, he should be considered.
