There is so much that can happen when a fresh NFL season begins. Could we see some dream scenarios play out that benefit the Broncos and boost their Super Bowl odds? It's not likely, but maybe the Broncos can follow in the footsteps of the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets and win a championship.
After all, the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 2022, the Nuggets took down the Heat on Monday for their first NBA championship in 2023, and now it appears as if it's the Broncos' turn to do the same in the 2023 NFL season.

Denver does have enough roster talent and the head coaching to make the playoffs, at least, but there's even a ton that needs to go right for them to make the post season for the first time since 2015. Let's dive into three dream scenarios that would boost the Broncos' Super Bowl odds in 2023.
3 dream scenarios that would boost Denver Broncos' Super Bowl odds
1. The "good" chunk of AFC teams aren't as good as we think
So, I think there are three teams in the AFC who are in the elite class all by themselves. Those teams would be the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills. I'd also be willing to put the Jacksonville Jaguars into that section, but I think we have to hold off on that initially.
I also think there are a ton of what I'd consider to be "good" AFC teams like the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Los Angeles Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, etc. A dream scenario here are those teams beating each other up and not being nearly as good as we think, ultimately benefitting the Broncos if they can win the games they are supposed to.
This would likely give the Broncos a very decent shot at earning the 5th Wild Card seed in the AFC, which would give them an away matchup against the 4th seed in the AFC, likely going to the Jaguars or Bills.
I'm not sure even in a dream scenario, Denver wins the division just yet, but I think this first scenario would be close to a dream.

2. Russell Wilson doesn't miss a beat, returns to old self in Sean Payton's offense
This is also a huge dream and every single Broncos fan should be hoping for this. A dream scenario isn't just seeing Russell Wilson bounce back in a big way, but him bouncing back to the point where he looks like his old self from the 2017-2020 seasons where he didn't throw less than 31 touchdown passes.
Perhaps playing in this offense, which is likely to feature a tough run game and play-action, will help Wilson get back to what made him one of the most efficient passers in the NFL. Moreover, this would likely give Denver a top scoring offense, too, perhaps even ranking inside the top 10. In Sean Payton's career as a head coach in the NFL, his scoring offenses have ranked lower than 12th in points scored just one time, so there is an over 90% chance that the Broncos field a top 12 unit.
This, coupled with what we'd assume to be a solid defense would give Denver one of the most balanced teams in the NFL and would allow them to easily win double-digit games. If 2023 is another year where the offense is stagnant, 2023 will be a long year and questions will arise about what Denver should do with their QB situation.

3. Denver Broncos stay healthy and do not suffer major injury to starters
It feels like the Denver Broncos are never a healthy team at this point. They ended up ranking out as the most injured team in the NFL in 2022 and have been one of the most injured teams in the league over the last five seasons.
At some point, this has to stop, right? Well, what if 2023 is that year where the Broncos are mostly healthy? It's no coincidence that teams who make deep playoff runs are able to stay mostly healthy during the regular season.
Denver missed a ton of man games last year from their starters, and that was also mixed together with poor coaching to create a hilariously bad football team. What if the offensive line stays healthy for the entire year?
What if the secondary stays on the field and the wide receiver room only misses a few games? Every year, there are always teams who avoid the injury bug, and why can't that be the Broncos for the 2023 season? I get that a lot of us still may be pessimistic about the Broncos given what has happened the past six seasons, but maybe 2023 is when the direction of the franchise begins to turn around for the better.
