This feels like the classic sort of decision that cap-strapped teams are forced to make. Cushenberry was, to put it mildly, not good for the first three years of his career. But he picked a hell of a time to put together the best season of his career, and now is line to become one of the highest paid centers in the NFL, according to PFF's free agent projections. It seems like that in and of itself takes the Broncos out of contention for an extension.
