Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is already entering his third year in the NFL and is actually going to be eligible for a contract extension following the 2026 NFL Season. Through two seasons, Nix has helped the Broncos win 24 regular season games and capture the AFC West title.
But the national opinion on Nix is definitely not something that is consistent throughout. In fact, it feels like most outside of Denver don't think Nix is quite as good as perhaps some in Broncos Country think.
At the end of the day, rankings are subjective, and some in Broncos Country may not care about them at all, but the latest rankings include Nix, and it might raise the eyebrows of everyone in the fanbase.
FanSided experts voted Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix as the league's most overrated player
FanSided's NFL division experts voted on the most overrated players in the NFL, and Nix actually topped the list:
"Total points: 22
First-place votes: 3
Bo Nix had fewer first-place votes than Caleb Williams but he showed up on far more ballots. Eleven different FanSided experts named Nix as one of the most overrated players in the league, officially giving him the No. 1 spot on this list.
Like Williams, Nix is a victim of his own success. He and Sean Payton have reinvented the Denver Broncos, who despite their success in the regular season and playoffs, have not been taken seriously as a true Super Bowl-caliber team. Heck, the Broncos were arguably a Nix injury away from making (and potentially winning) the Super Bowl last year.
But that doesn't matter. Whether it be due to his defense, the weapons around him, or his offensive-minded head coach, Nix's success as a pro is not reflective of how FanSided experts view him. Is a Super Bowl the only way to break that narrative? Perhaps." -- Jason Reed
This does seem to the the main arguement here, that Nix just has so much around him going 'right' that he's being elevated by the personnel, but I do believe this is an off-base opinion, and, if anything, Nix might be a underrated QB.
It does feel like many don't view Nix as that special of a QB, which is evidenced in The Athletic's QB rankings, and that's just one example. There are two things that really stick out as further proof that Nix might actually be better than people think, or at least isn't overrated.
He did deal with 43 drops last year, according to Pro Football Reference, which was the second-highest total in the NFL and over 10 more than the next closest team/QB. Simply put, Nix's pass-catchers just did not do him many favors last year.
Furthermore, the Broncos rushing attack took a nosedive the second J.K. Dobbins went down in Week 10. If anything, Nix was having to carry a heavier load for a large chunk of the season. Obviously, the Broncos have an elite offensive line and a great defense, but even those units a far from perfect.
Over the last two years, the defense does seem to get a bit soft, perhaps even worn out from the aggressive style they play, and the offensive line has had their moments as well. At the end of the day, the opinion of Nix seems to range in the 10-20 range, and depending on the week, Nix can play like a top-10 QB and lead the team to victory, but some weeks, he's just not playing well at all.
This is true for any QB as well. All passers in the league have their high moments and others that are flat-out horrendous. With that said, Nix being voted the league's most overrated player is quite notable and deserving of talking about.
