Jonah Coleman wasted no time proving why he should be the Broncos' RB1

The Denver Broncos never seem to make it easy, but if nothing else, the team won by double-digits in Week 7 and actually broke what felt like a years-long streak of only being able to win by one score. Denver took down the Arizona Cardinals and honestly dominated them at times.

The Broncos now move to 5-2 on the year, and they're now 5-2 for the second year in a row. Denver now returns home in Week 8 to face the Kansas City Chiefs in what promises to be one of the most important games for both teams of the season.

And, fortunately, the Broncos got an instant return from running back Jonah Coleman in Week 7, as he led the way among the running backs in his first game back from his ankle injury.

The Denver Broncos need to continue leaning on Jonah Coleman after his Week 7 showing

Coleman was just coming off IR, as he had been placed on IR following the team's Week 2 victory over Jacksonville, so he had to miss Weeks 3-6. He led the way among the running backs with nine carries. He gained 54 yards on those carries for a stellar 6.0 yards per tote.

J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey combined for nine carries, gaining just 29 yards. In fact, it felt like Dobbins was flat-out non-existent after those first couple of drives, as Coleman was holding his own on passing downs as well.

He ended up with two receptions for 15 yards, so he totaled 69 yards on just 11 touches. While the Broncos do have a deep running back room, it isn't really a shock that the running game looks a lot more efficient with Coleman back in the mix.

That isn't a coincidence, as his vision and ability to explode through the open running lanes is really what stands out. Harvey possesse that explosiveness, but he doesn't appear to have the vision. Dobbins is honestly the total opposite - he has the vision, but just isn't able to explode through the hole anymore.

Going forward, Coleman needs to be this team's primary running back, and I am not sure it should even be a question. He's clearly the most complete runner the Broncos have on their team right now, and with the Broncos ideally winning these next two games before the bye in Week 10, Coleman's importance cannot be overstated.

Yes, it's just one game, but it was also his first game back off IR as well, so his being able to do this in what also was a semi-hostile environment is just further proof that the Broncos need to lean on him as much as possible.
