One area that the Denver Broncos have chipped away at in the Sean Payton era is at wide receiver. Outside of Courtland Sutton, who is one of the longest-tenured Broncos players on the team, the room has been totally revamped.
In recent years, we have seen the team use high or high-ish draft picks on Marvin Mims Jr, Troy Franklin, and Pat Bryant. We've also seen the team give Sutton another big-time payday, and, this past offseason, the Broncos also traded a first-round pick and some to the Miami Dolphins for Jaylen Waddle.
There may not be many teams in the NFL that have invested this much into their room as the Broncos have with theirs, and it should pay off in the end, but a former player that the Broncos had in this room keeps proving why Denver traded him.
Former Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy is reportedly struggling at Browns training camp
Former first-round pick Jerry Jeudy, who is in his third season with the Cleveland Browns, is reportedly not having a strong camp and is struggling with drops:
"Beyond Deshaun Watson maybe not having the best camp so far...Jerry Jeudy continues to struggle with drops. This is not going in the right direction. I'm rooting for him to succeed...this is how you play yourself off a roster."

It's really quite the disappointment for Jeudy, who came into the NFL in the 2020 NFL Draft, which was highly regarded as one of the top WR drafts of all-time, featuring notable players like CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson. Other players from this class included Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman Jr, and Brandon Aiyuk.
It was a loaded class, and the Broncos managed to draft one of the more underachieving players from the class. Jeudy has not missed a game for the Browns and was actually a Pro Bowler in 2024, finishing with 1,229 yards and four touchdowns.
However, in 17 games in 2025, Jeudy's production cratered. He finished with 602 yards and two touchdowns. According to Pro Football Reference, his passer rating when targeted in 2024 was a respectable 89.7, but in 2025, it was a horrid 43.8.
For reference, if a quarterback spikes the ball each play, his passer rating would be a 39.6, so Jeudy was barely more efficient than that. Still just 27 years old, Jeudy surely still has time to figure this out, but the Browns did take a pair of notable wide receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, who are both playing quite well.
The Browns surely once viewed Jeudy as a WR1 for the team, but with this latest camp, it appears that he's pretty close to sliding into a rotational role. According to Over The Cap, Jeudy has $6 million guaranteed in 2026, and it does seem like the team can get out of his deal in 2027. Someone who was once viewed as the top wide receiver in one of the best receiver drafts of all-time just cannot find his footing consistently in the NFL.
And for the Broncos, Jeudy continues to prove them right.
