The Denver Broncos have already lost a game against the Kansas City Chiefs this year, and based on how the AFC West standings look right now, a win would go a long way for this team. Even in a loss, the Broncos would still be positioned well to at least make the playoffs, but a third loss in eight games and being 0-2 against the Chiefs would make their AFC West title chances slim.
Fortunately, Denver is a stellar 17-3 at home in the Bo Nix era thus far, and they actually have not lost any home game against the Chiefs in the Sean Payton era.
Let's make our usual bold predictions, but in this week's version, we see some season-altering changes emerge.
Denver Broncos Week 8 bold predictions include running back mayhem
Jonah Coleman gets at least double the amount of touches that J.K. Dobbins does
In Jonah Coleman's first game back for the Broncos, which was in Week 7, he had 11 touches for 69 yards. J.K. Dobbins had six touches for 26 yards. Many were shocked at Coleman's usage with his having been out for four games, especially since both Dobbins and RJ Harvey were healthy in this one.
Well, with Harvey already out for Week 8, the Broncos may lean more on Coleman. The Broncos have looked best on offense when he's on the field and getting the ball, and that isn't a coincidence. Coleman's ability between the tackles, his burst, pass protection chops, and overall complete skillset at the position make him a player you struggle to take off the field.
Coleman is likely going to see more than nine carries in Week 8, and we're predicting that he gets more than double the touches that Dobbins gets.
Safety Taylor Rapp creates a key turnover in the second half
Backup safety Taylor Rapp has filled in quite nicely for the Broncos with Talanoa Hufanga's absence. Hufanga is out for Week 8, so Rapp again figures to slide into that starting spot opposite Brandon Jones. Rapp has absolutely held his own, and it's nice to see - we really don't hear his name called during games that much, and in Rapp's case, that's been a good thing.
Rapp has played in two games for the Broncos, and both saw the defense allow 14 and 16 points, so when he's on the field, we're seeing a good result on the backend. The veteran safety has 12 career interceptions and two forced fumbles in 95 regular season games. He's not exactly been a turnover machine in his career, and has honestly never been more than an average starter, but that could make him that much more dangerous.
Rapp does have a ton of big-game experience, as he has previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. In a secondary loaded with talent, even without Hufanga, Rapp might be a name that the Chiefs offense tries to pick on, but with Kansas City not having much pass-catching talent, making anything happen against this defense is going to be tough.
And that's why we're predicting a big-time second half turnover created by Rapp. The veteran safety is going to find himself in the right place at the right time.
The Broncos trade for Jonathan Taylor after a 23-20 victory
This might be the clearest Jonathan Taylor report we have seen thus far. It seems like it may only be a matter of time before the Indianapolis Colts actually make the move, and in this exact report from Adam Schefter, the Broncos are listed as a team that has "expressed at least some level of interest" in the running back.
The Indianapolis Colts now are open to trading star running back Jonathan Taylor, sources told @RapSheet and me. Multiple teams have reached out to Indianapolis, and those talks are said to be active and ongoing, according to sources. More on https://t.co/NcfwZLCjrb. pic.twitter.com/X2gYBnSFek

The Broncos are listed along with Green Bay, Minnesota, the New York Giants, and Seattle. For the Broncos, the argument is simple: this team is in a win-now window, and if now isn't the time to make another big-time move, when will that be?
Super Bowl windows can close as soon as they open in many instances, so there really isn't any use in waiting around. While the Broncos have gotten some really awesome early returns from Coleman, he has, heading into Week 8, played in just two regular season games.
Two!
Would the Broncos sincerely bank on Coleman being RB1 material if Taylor is available? I guess they could, but that wouldn't be sound logic in a Super Bowl window, and a consistent run game has been missing from this offense for years now, despite the Broncos heavy investment in the position.
While Coleman and Taylor have overlapping skillsets, Taylor is an established veteran and has been one of the best pure runners of this generation. Since the start of the 2025 season, Taylor has rushed for 2,172 yards and 26 touchdowns in just 24 games.
That comes out to 90.5 yards per game and 1,539 yards over a 17-game season. The Broncos simply have not seen that type of production from the position in ages, and we're predicting that at some point after the game, whether it's right after, on Monday, or in the near future, the Broncos make the move.
After another close game at home, the Broncos move to 6-2 in our predictions and feel compelled to make another splash on offense. The front office was clearly not scared to make a big-time move in acquiring Jaylen Waddle, so you could argue that they have the 'oomf' to do something like this again.
