The elements absolutely matter during NFL games, and this is especially true for the Denver Broncos playing at home, as the altitude does work in the team's favor late in games. You almost have to wonder if the altitude ends up impacting the opposing team to the point that the Broncos can take- advantage and mount a late-game comeback...?
Anyway, the Broncos will play three-straight games against California teams, as they hosted the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 at home, are in San Francisco to face the 49ers in Week 4, and then play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5.
Week 4 could certainly be a tougher game, though, as the weather forecast is downright brutal and could honestly impact both teams.
The Denver Broncos could play a game in the mid-90s in Week 4
The AccuWeather forecast for Levi's Stadium notes that the temperature is projected to be a whopping 94 degrees in the afternoon. There is also a heat advisory and only 11 percent cloud coverage during this time.
Both teams should be rather accustomed to playing in tough conditions, as Denver's altitude is no joke, and the 49ers playing at home early in the season does always leave the possibility open of playing in this kind of heat.
But you have to wonder which team ends up struggling the most with the heat...?
Players could simply not have as much stamina late in games, and we could see more personnel rotation going on. When you think about it, the heat could benefit the Broncos, as they are no strangers to these energy-sucking games when they need a second half comeback, and they are currently healthier and in a better spot roster-wise than the 49ers are.
The 49ers have already endured a ton of injuries and are spread quite thin at wide receiver and along the defensive line. While this quick analysis of both teams might not end up being what actually happens, this is a winnable game for Denver.
San Francisco is also 3-0 on the season, and the offense is just humming - if anything, they could be due for a bit of a letdown game, as the injuries are only getting more frequent, and the Broncos likely stand to be their toughest opponent thus far in 2026.
It'll be interesting to see how this heat impacts both teams, but either way, it could end up being a struggle.
