The Denver Broncos are filling out their practice squad as we speak, and this is also true for the rest of the NFL. Denver's roster is among the best in the NFL, but getting key players who have experience with the team back on the practice squad is quite important.
Denver's practice squad is filling up, and the initial 53-man roster has already been set. There could still be some semi-notable moves that happen between now and Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but for the most part, who the Broncos have in the building now is going to remain nearly the same.
Well, some notable rookies did not make the final roster, but the Broncos were able to just score one of them back on the practice squad, the fan favorite in Red Murdock.

Somehow, Murdock didn't get claimed, as he's now back on the practice squad for the Broncos after what was a very encouraging rookie offseason:

All things considered, Murdock did quite well for himself in his first offseason in the NFL. Since he nearly went undrafted and really wasn't a highly-touted prospect at all, the expectations were virtually non-existent, but Murdock absolutely made some plays during practices and in preseason games, and surely lived up to being drafted.
Now, yes, the odds that Murdock turns into anything more than a depth piece in the room are low, but there is still some untapped potential here worth developing. The Broncos may just have the worst inside linebacker room in the NFL, so getting Murdock back does allow the Broncos, albeit a small chance, a way to find some long-term stability here.
It feels unlikely that Murdock sees actual regular season games as a rookie, but his forced fumble ability might make the coaches think twice - you really never know.
While the Broncos didn't have the best day three of the 2026 NFL Draft, they were able to get Murdock back, and rookie tight end Dallen Bentley also made the 53-man roster. For whatever reason, though, the front office not being able to figure out a long-term plan at either position is troublesome.
There are still some free agents out there at both positions who could come in and at least be floor-raising options, but the Broncos may just have to deal with the holes they've dug themselves into at TE and ILB.
