The Baltimore Ravens are in an absolute nightmare scenario at the quarterback position, and the Denver Broncos might be able to help them out.

The Ravens placed star QB Lamar Jackson on IR with a season-ending thumb injury, and on top of it, backup Tyler Huntley has already been ruled out for their Thursday night game with a toe injury. Their third QB -- rookie Joe Fagnano -- is expected to start Thursday, but is also dealing with an ankle injury.

This is one of those "desperate times calls for desperate measures" sort of situations for the Ravens. Even though there isn't clarity on the exact timeline of Huntley's return, in particular, ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently stated that the Ravens could now be in the market for some QB help.

Perhaps the Broncos -- with their connections to the Ravens' staff -- could oblige...

Broncos could send help to the QB-needy Ravens at the trade deadline

Schefter doesn't explicitly name the Broncos as a team to watch in terms of the Ravens looking into quarterbacks, but the Broncos could make a lot of sense.

The Ravens hired Declan Doyle to be their offensive coordinator this year, and Doyle was on Sean Payton's staff with the Broncos from 2023-24 as a tight ends coach. He would have familiarity with Jarrett Stidham, who was signed by the Broncos in 2023 as well.

That familiarity between Stidham and Doyle is exactly the type of connection you look for when it comes to in-season trades. If a team like the Ravens is trying to find someone who can truly help them out at the quarterback position right now, then having someone who would be able to pick up the offense quickly is essential.

Stidham wouldn't be the only one with connections to the Ravens, but he'd be an affordable option. The Broncos also have Sam Ehlinger on the active roster right now, and there were rumors about Ehlinger possibly taking over the QB2 job this offseason anyway.

If the Broncos are confident enough at this point in Bo Nix's ankle as well as Ehlinger's ability to step in if needed, then they might be willing to send Stidham to Baltimore.

It might not be a bad thing for Stidham, either. He's got a pretty lucrative gig backing up Bo Nix, but he's also a free agent after the season. If he plays well for a team like the Ravens, he could make himself some nice money on the open market.

Even if the Broncos are more likely to hold onto their own players at the trade deadline, this one is worth at least a thought from both teams.
