The Denver Broncos haven't lost any confidence in quarterback Bo Nix despite his slow start to the 2026 season.
At the same time, the Broncos are not blissfully unaware of just how much the offense has been holding the team back up to this point. The Denver offense has been trudging through the first six games of the 2026 season, to say the least. They rank near the bottom of the NFL in most categories, though the team has still managed to find its way to a 4-2 start.
Head coach Sean Payton stripped play-calling duties from Davis Webb, causing a pretty massive outcry from the national media. How could Webb be held to that level of accountability with the quarterback struggling so badly?
Even though Nix hasn't shown much this year in the way of inspiring confidence, the team is taking into account his entire body of work.
Broncos believe Bo Nix can get it rolling again after slow start
The Broncos are 18-3 in Bo Nix’s last 21 starts. And while Nix and the offense clearly need to improve, there are no questions in the building about Nix’s competitiveness, drive and ability to get things rolling again.

According to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer, there is confidence from inside the Broncos' building that Nix can "get things rolling again." Where does that confidence come from?
Well, Nix has an entire body of work prior to this year, and some people in the media world are also waking up to that. In fact, Kay Adams recently just said something very similar regarding Nix's past history of production.
Bo Nix DOESN'T look like himself right now...BUT

We've seen too much GOOD from him to think this will last 💯@heykayadams pic.twitter.com/4Yi4zMfYln
This is a hard perspective to keep when the team is struggling as badly as it has been. Other sports can let a struggling player sit out for a game or two, maybe even put them on the short-term IL in a sport like baseball if they're really just not "right".
That option does not exist in the NFL. Once the season gets going, you've simply got to figure it out. Every game is too valuable.
And realistically, what options do the Broncos really have? We all saw what happened in the AFC Championship Game when Jarrett Stidham got his shot, as well as how he played in the preseason.

What we have seen in the first six weeks of this season has not been good enough from Nix and the Broncos' offense, period. However, what we saw through his first two seasons in the NFL, including his performance in a Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills, is a guy capable of playing top-tier football on the biggest stage.
At some point, you have to think we're going to see the guy we saw against the Buffalo Bills. Where is the guy from last year's Packers and Cowboys games? Where is the guy who put up 4 total touchdowns in the 4th quarter of the Giants game? Where is the guy who sprinted for a 25-yard gain to set up a game-winning field goal against the Texans?
Well, we have seen that guy this season...in glimpses.
We saw him against the Jaguars. We saw him against the Rams in the second half. We saw him in the first half against the Seahawks, even (remember there was a first half of that game?).
The knee-jerk reaction is to think the Broncos are wrong for being confident that Nix will get it figured out. There are many people out there who don't feel like he's ever figured it out in the first place. But keep in mind that this is a guy who has been the quarterback of a team that is 18-3 in its last 21 games.
Already through two seasons and change, Nix has beaten 21 different NFL teams.
After the ankle injury he suffered against the Bills in the playoffs, it does look like Nix is out there playing a little "different" than he has in the past. There is somewhat of a lack of confidence or conviction in the way he's playing. His speed looks a little different.
Heck, we don't need to speculate. Sean Payton's comments about wanting Nix to "let it rip" are telling enough. He's struggled since coming back from the injury.
But at some point, you're obviously holding out hope that he can return to form.
Frankly, what else can you do?
